There was no New England weather, no real magic (excepting the weird ghost explanation), no generations of fated sisters. Yes, some connections appeared in this very linear novel, but with very little circling back to hit home. What was the point? What was the Third Angel? The second involves a woman who tries to save a drug addict. The third is about how the hotel became haunted in the first place. This story is complex and beautiful.
