How true it is that,
if we are cheerful and contented,
all nature smiles,
the air seems more balmy,
the sky clearer,
the earth has a brighter green...
the flowers are more fragrant...
and the sun, moon, and stars
all appear more beautiful,
and seem to rejoice with us.
- Orison Swett Marden
Noticed that you liked The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). I thought you might like my novel since it's been compared to that novel by a number of reviewers. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks for the comment, and the kind words. I completed a BA in Russian in 1995. Even then, my written Russian was a whole lot better than my spoken Russian. I can still work my way slowly through Russian literature with a dictionary handy - although I'm so slow nowadays that I confine myself to the occasional poem - but my spoken Russian has pretty much gone, except for occasional phrases that have stuck in my memory. I still remember how to say: "And now, here I sit, fulfilling my childhood ambition" in Russian, but that's not a phrase that comes in handy all that often!

Tim
Glad you find my library interesting, jambyfool. Yours is most impressive - I think we have a similar mix of books, but you have plenty more (although I've only added about half my library so far).

Regards
Tim
Yes, and it is amazing. I've read a lot of housing books but nothing like that one, seriously!
I can't believe how many books we have in common!
Thanks for becoming a friend!
